This year marks Favorite Healthcare Staffing’s 40th Anniversary! In March, we celebrated our nurses who continue to be our #healthcareheroes as they fight to keep the world healthy. This month we are shining the spotlight on our incredible internal branch and corporate staff who have been an integral part of our journey during their time at Favorite! From recruiters to our Human Resources department, from our Accounting team to every division in between, our employees are the backbone of Favorite!
Meet this month’s first employee #FavoriteFamilyFeature! Julie has been working with Favorite for nine years! Her current role is Sr. Talent Acquisition Manager for the Direct Hire team. She recruits external permanent hire candidates for Favorite’s clients in the South and Central regions.
Have you had any other roles at Favorite? Please describe the path you took to get where you are now.
In 2012 I started at Favorite in the National Accounts department as a Recruiter. In 2014 I transitioned to the Direct Hire team as a Recruiter. Then I spent a couple of months in the HR department in 2016 before realizing Direct Hire was my true passion and home! I’ve been in Direct Hire ever since.
What, or who contributed to your decision to work at Favorite?
I had just graduated from college with my Bachelor’s in Human Resources and had worked in healthcare during all four years of college, so a Healthcare Recruiter position seemed like an easy decision!
What is it like working at Favorite?
It is always entertaining! Every day is an adventure (some days a circus). I feel lucky to work somewhere that keeps me laughing and smiling throughout the whole workday.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
I get the opportunity to learn something new every day and I get to do it with people I consider family and friends. Favorite has always believed in me and provided anything I needed to advance myself professionally and personally… Wow, I am tearing up right now, what a baby!
How do you think your role at Favorite makes a difference within the company and the healthcare industry as a whole?
Every time I get a direct hire candidate placed, it is like a hat trick – win for the client, win for the candidate and win for Favorite! The appreciation and praise that I get for doing my job puts into perspective how much I am making a difference.
What lessons have you learned while working in the healthcare industry during COVID-19, either personally or professionally?
I have learned that people can do amazing things when we work together! And when forced to slow down a bit, I learn to appreciate the simple things in life that I was overlooking. I started reading regularly again and that has done wonders for my blood pressure!
What keeps you motivated when times are tough?
Humor to lighten things up! But also, the reward of helping others is very motivating.
Tell us what makes you unique! What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Any hobbies or interests?
I got married during quarantine so many of my hobbies these days involve the family – taking my long-haired dachshund puppy, Dolly, for walks, playing golf with my husband, virtual happy hours, and reading an enjoyable book.
How would you describe your team?
I love my team! We all have the same type of work ethic and humor – it is a dream team over here!
What is one of your favorite memories while working at Favorite?
Wow, what a tough question! I have to say, the first year Favorite held the Lip Sync battle at National Meeting. At that time, the Direct Hire team also included a couple FMS (Favorite Managed Services) employees. With our matching outfits, lip-sync rapping, and fierce choreography, we walked away with a win for our “Too Legit to Quit” by MC Hammer performance!
