On Oct. 29th Favorite Healthcare Staffing was honored with the 2015 American Staffing Association Care Award for its volunteer program Volunteering for a Brighter Tomorrow! This prestigious national award recognizes outstanding corporate social responsibility initiatives that produce an overall positive effect on society.
For many years, Favorite has participated in and supported many seasonal fundraising and volunteer activities. However, after employee suggestions, Favorite launched the Volunteering for a Brighter Tomorrow Program in the Fall of 2013. The initial program invited all corporate employees to volunteer for one day at Habitat for Humanity during a selected two-week period. The experience was wildly popular. Soon after, Favorite’s volunteer program was expanded out to the entire company.
To encourage ongoing participation, Favorite created a contest for employees to share their volunteer experiences. Winners are determined by the number of “Likes” they receive on Favorite’s Facebook page. To honor their community efforts, Favorite makes a donation to the charities of the winners.
Today, the Volunteering for a Brighter Tomorrow program is embraced by all of Favorite’s employees and clients. Interested employees can easily register through the website to receive a special Favorite Volunteering T-Shirt! The creativity, generosity and amazing efforts of the volunteers has been overwhelmingly contagious! The variety of volunteer activities have been astonishing, ranging from volunteering at animal shelters and rescue centers, to buying, cooking and serving meals for residents at Ronald McDonald Houses, and setting up blood drives with the American Red Cross.
Through the Volunteer program we have already seen food and clothing drives in Philadelphia, Houston, and San Antonio, 5K fundraising “Run for Riley” in Indianapolis, “Relay for Life” in Kennewick, WA, Animal Shelters volunteers in Tucson, and Homeless and Women’s Shelter support in Springfield and Houston, and Meals on Wheels distribution from our Atlanta employees. In fact, Favorite employees across the country join together on fundraising runs, walks, and national initiatives.
There are no requirements or job benefits related to Favorite’s Volunteer Program for employees. The benefit is seen in how clearly the culture of Favorite is communicated to current and prospective employees, as well as in the moral integrity of Favorite’s leadership.
