2018 Projections for Registered Nurses by State

Everyone is familiar with the impending American nursing shortage, but thanks to a new report from the American Health Resources & Services Administration there’s now insight into how each state may be affected. Their report presents a projection of supply and demand for registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical/vocational nurses (LPN) in the year 2030 using 2014 as a baseline. Projected by 2030, the top ten states with the most need for nurses are:

  1. California
  2. Texas
  3. New Jersey
  4. South Carolina
  5. Alaska
  6. Georgia
  7. South Dakota
  8. Montana
  9. North Dakota
  10. New Hampshire
